Amazing toccata performance. Live too. It’s very hard to play at tempo I think Ravel wrote 144 and that is probably too fast but it still should be very brisk and this is at the high end of what I’ve heard and this was fantastic!

Recordings of the orchestral version are easy to find, but the original piano version has very few options in spite of the attention it deserves, as this marvelous performance shows beyond all doubt.

Devo fare ammenda: ...non conoscevo Luca Buratto prima del concerto di ieri sera. Un interprete veramente raffinato, dotato di un’impeccabile tecnica (non una nota falsa in tutto il concerto, anche nel difficilissimo Gaspard) e capace di estrarre dalle partiture di Ravel tutte le sfumature che il compositore francese ha inserito nelle proprie composizioni. Veramente bravissimo e poco altro si può dire se non notare una piccola “pecca” nel primo tempo della Sonatine dove un eccesso di lirismo non si è ben accompagnato con lo stile neoclassico del brano. Ma per il resto onore al merito e mi chiedo come mai Buratto non ha la fama che si meriterebbe. Naturalmente non si vive di solo Ravel ma le premesse sono di altissimo livello e non si può che auspicare di assistere a un concerto con un programma più variegato. Ancora un concerto decentrato ma il pubblico non è quello locale ma quello di sempre dei concerti semplicemente spostatosi in perferia. Quindi un commendevole sforzo ma con risultati probabilmente lontani dalle aspettative. Un bis dopo un programma molto impegnativo.
